Intro: San Jose is the 11th largest city in the nation; common sense would imply that there are only 10 cities in the U.S. with more to do and see than San Jose. Thats a pretty good if you ask us. RegionalWebPortal.com offers expansive information about the sites and activities you can choose from during your stay in our multiculturally diverse community.
Neighborhood Parks: Yes, it's true. We're not making it up. San Jose offers 144 neighborhood parks with everything from picnicing & BBQs to tennis courts, soccer fields, lighted softball fields, basketball courts, swimming pools, exercise courses and dozens of playgrounds for the tots. If you live in or near the San Jose area, then it's definately worth your time to take a look at one or two of these parks. They make awsome family events, and will get you and the kids outside for an enjoyable day in the sun. The good news? You have almost unlimited choices in parks. The bad news? It would take you 2.77 years to visit all 144 parks if you and the family enjoyed a park a week. Hope you don't plan on moving any time soon. Regional Parks: Although there are only 9 regional parks, their offerings add new dimension to the outdoor activities San Jose residents are privy to. These parks (Almaden Lake Park, INFOAlum Rock Park, INFOKelley Park, Friends of Guadalupe River Park and Gardens, Lake Cunningham, Overfelt Gardens, INFOPrusch Farm Park, & the Rose Garden) are larger and more scenic versions of the neighborhood parks. Kelly Park is a personal favorite. It houses the Japanese Gardens and numerous picnic areas. Coming fully equipped with BBQs and bathrooms, Kelly Park is a great getaway near the heart of San Jose.
Although the parks don't require reservations for most picnic areas, it is a good idea to make reservations if you are planning an event or family gathering.
