Welcome to San José California! The Capitol of The Silicon Valley
History of San José
San José was California's first civilian settlement, founded in 1777. It was also the first capitol of California, and although it no longer holds that respectful position, San José continues to attract culture and diversity to it's abundant lands. San José has enjoyed a fruitful and diverse history since it's inception, and it is now called home by over 925,000 people. That makes it the third largest city in the state, and the 11th largest in the nation!
